Remember the group messaging app and content sharing platform Spaces? Well, it’s closing down this April 2017 and Google is doing that!
The app will be shutting down its services since Google had been creating a number of messaging apps across several platforms. The messaging app has gotten confused and that’s why it a right decision to close it down.
Back in time, Space was more focused on Group Conversations for people who wanted to discuss their favorite topics. You were able to share photos, link, and other content easily with your group via Google Space. All you need is to start a topic and start inviting people on the topic and conversations began!
The best part of this app was its ability to pull Google Searches with Image Search and YouTube Videos too. It offered something different than those Messaging Apps in the market.
Google’s product manager John Kilcline confirmed about shutting down the app by mentioning
As we focus our efforts, we’ve decided to take what we learned with Spaces, and apply it to our existing products,
We want to thank all of the Spaces users who tried out the app and shared their feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Now if you are worried about saving your content before the service shuts down, we are here to help. Before the service shuts down, which happens on April 17, users of Spaces can see, save, or print content; delete any spaces left, leave spaces joined, or remove people from spaces; report abuse in Spaces, or block other Spaces users.
After April 17, Spaces will officially be killed a la Google Wave. Google has been updating a lot for its app but for Spaces, it was too quick! In less than a year the app is going to be taken off!
