Samsung has at long last launched its new flagship phone model, the Galaxy S8. Many months of speculation and a three year development period have gone into this phone. It is only now that the rumors that once shrouded the upcoming phone are now dropped, just like the curtains that held this new piece of tech from the world. For starters, the S8 will come into variations: the S8 and the S8 Plus.

The facade of the new phones have more screen and less bezel. The phones will have an OLED display with the S8 having a 5.8-inch screen and the S8 Plus a 6.2-inch screen. The new phones have curves and a lot of them.

The screen is curved around the left and right sides of the phone which the company calls “Infinity Display”. This gives it a better look and it appears to not have much of a bezel at those sides. The corners of the phone are also curved making it look much more graceful.

The phone will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa-core processor (2.35 GHz Quad + 1.7 GHZ Quad) in the US market and an Exynos Octa-core processor (2.35 GHz Quad + 1.9 GHZ Quad) in the international market with 4 GB of RAM.

Onboard memory will be 64 GB, upgradable to 256 GB via microSD card. The cameras on the new phone are great too. The rear camera has 12 Megapixels and can shoot video in 4K and take photos in HDR.

The front camera is 8 Megapixels also has HDR. Other notable hardware improvements include a USB-C port and the Bluetooth v5. It has a barrage of sensors such as the barometer, fingerprint scanner, accelerometer and even an iris scanner.

OS & Battery

The new phone will run Android Nougat and will have a 3000 mAh battery for the S8 and a 3500 mAh battery for the S8 Plus. The new phones will be available for preorder on 30th March 2017.
