According to the Associated Press, A hacker has managed to steal the upcoming fifth season of Netflix’s hit show, Orange is the New Black. The news also stated that the hacker has released it through file-sharing websites, online.
Orange is the New Black has been one of the hit comedy drama shows that are aired on Netflix. And this illegal release might affect the Netflix viewing members. According to the AP reports, the hacker goes by the name “The Dark Overload” and has uploaded the first episode to file-sharing services this week. The hacker or the hacker group also claims that they have stolen other shows from more studios too.
The hacker also made a statement saying that the other remainder of the show’s stolen episodes is available through The Pirate Bay. However, Netflix has not yet made a statement about the authenticity of the claim and it is not clear whether the leaked episodes are authentic or not.
We are aware of the situation. A production vendor used by several major TV studios had its security compromised and the appropriate law enforcement authorities are involved.
The 5th season of Orange is the New Black was set to release on 9th June this year. Many fans were looking forward to the new season now it is not clear what the impact of this premature leak will be to the viewing numbers of the show. The hacker claims on twitter that other shows from ABC, Fox, National Geographic, and IFC are also stolen and could be leaked but no one is sure whether this claim is true or not.
According to AP, the breach was made several months ago and the last time they contact The Dark Overload in February, they said
The video wouldn’t be made publicly available after all, making the far-fetched claim that no one really (cares) about unreleased movies and TV show episodes.
Turns out their views have changed.
