Google Maps is a very useful app that maps an area and lets users see places near them or in a particular area. The App is widely used for help with navigation. With a new update, the Google Maps app might just get a very handy feature that will allow users to make lists of their favorite places.

After creating the lists, they can be shared with family or friends. Even other people’s shared lists can be followed. Google Maps Product Manager, Zach Maier, wrote in a blog post.

Is your bucket list etched in your memory, or scribbled on a dozen post-it notes scattered around your home? Have you ever promised out-of-town guests an email full of your favorite spots, only to never get around to clicking send? Starting today, you can create lists of places, share your lists with others, and follow the lists your friends and family share with you—without ever leaving the Google Maps app.

Indeed this feature will help people be more organized with respect to places they want to visit or tell other people about. To use the feature, users must open the Google Maps app and select a location where the user wishes to go to or wants to share.

Then by tapping the name of the location, a save icon will appear and can be clicked to save the location to either one of the several included lists such as “Want to Go” or “Favorites” or even a personal list the user can make on their own. To view these lists, users must go to Your Places in side menu and saved tabs. Doing this will cause icons of saved places to appear. Maier also wrote

With the millions of landmarks, businesses and other points of interest in Google Maps, there’s no shortage of places to try. Now that we’ve got the world mapped, it’s your turn to map your world with lists—from local hotspots to bucket list destinations worlds away.

This app will surely help users spread their favorite places among friends and family.
