Hangouts is about to replace Google Talk which is also called Gchat. It was released in 2013 as a chat service with many amazing features. It is expected that hangout will replace many preceding applications. In spite of its marvelous features, people are still using Gchat due to their personal preferences.

But on 26th of June, this whole situation will be altered and the use of Hangouts will be made mandatory. It won’t be an abrupt change as Google has been shifting people to Hangouts since 2013. There will be some common features as well, like an inbuilt conversation in Gmail.

Gchat was once one of the most used and common way of communicating in early 2000s on the internet. The rumor that Google will be removing SMS support from Hangout turned out to be true. The tech giants confirmed the removal of this feature. Google believes that this act will encourage the Android users to use new messaging application, Android Messages App, instead of old ones.

It is evident from this fact that Google is more interested in RCS messaging (RCS is a combination of different services defined by 3GPP and OMA ). This also shows that Google aims to give a tough competition to its competitors like Slack in market with the help of Hangouts.
