After Google and Apple, it is now the most popular social networking app Facebook that has taken a step to stop the overuse of internet apps. We are living in a world where people get blind almost without a smartphone. A recent study revealed that most of the college students check their mobile 150 times a day. And the total time spent on their mobile is 4-7 hours a day.
As per Facebook, the uses of Facebook and other networking websites should be limited. And the time spent on it should also be inspiring and positive. But, most of the users fail to keep this point in mind and they tend to use the smartphone all through the day. So, it led Facebook to take such initiative.
The new tool will allow users keeping a track of the total time spent on Facebook and Instagram.
How to activate this tool is explained here
- For Facebook, go to Settings and select the option ‘Your time on Facebook‘.
- In the case of Instagram, go to Settings and select the option ‘My Activity‘.
You will be first taken to an activity dashboard that will show the average time for that app on the current device. You will also see the total time spent on the app for that day.
Users are also able to set a reminder that will alert them once they cross the limit. Anyways, it will not force you to come out of the app. But just a reminder and the following task will depend on you.
Mute Push Notification is another interesting feature of this tool that will mute all the Facebook and Instagram notifications for a certain time period. The time can be chosen by the users from 15 minutes to 8 hours.
