Block Sender in Gmail

Google introduced a new feature last Tuesday, ‘Block Sender’. As you no doubt have guessed this is for blocking unliked people from sending you emails. The feature enabled on Google’s web service and coming out to Android next week.

You could have just report as ‘spam’ emails for many times, until now. Now, it is easy to block a sender by pressing a button.

Google Product Manager Sri Harsha Somanchi wrote in a blog;

Hopefully it doesn’t happen frequently — but when it does, you should be able to say, ‘Never see messages from this person again.’

To block somebody simply press the “More” button right alongside Reply and you’ll see an option to block that email address. When you block the person, any mail they send you from that email address later on will go to the spam folder. You can simply unblock them from your Settings.

In the mean time, in addition to the new block option, the Gmail unsubscribe button is making its way to Android with this update, giving you a chance to quit mailing lists directly from the application.

“It’s perfect for those newsletters you subscribed to a while back yet don’t read any more,” Harsha wrote.
