Even though your iPad does not come with a user manual, you can download one for free. Apple has a free PDF on their website containing the User Guide for the iPad. It also comes as an e-book you can read in iBooks, which is a free downloadable app available in the App Store.

Performing multiple app updates at the same time can slow down your iPad and make it difficult to get anything done. You can alleviate this by pausing apps and forcing them to update one at a time instead of all at once. Tap the icon of the app that is updating to pause it. When one is finished, you can allow another one to finish updating.

Change The Passcode on iPad

You automatically are prompted for only a four-digit password. However, this is not as secure as you would like since this not only gets you into your iPad but also is used to encrypt your data. Therefore, go to Passcode Lock under your General Settings and turn off Simple Passcode. After that, you will be able to make the password any length you like using any keyboard characters.

Mature Content

You can set your iPad to block mature content if your child will be using it. Go into the settings and limit the amount of mature content that is viewable. This setting will allow you to block anything labeled adult.

Spend a day or two familiarizing yourself with your iPad. You may have purchased it for one or two features, but spend a while exploring everything that is available. You may not even realize that the iPad can do some things, so looking around is a sure way to get even more out of it.

Be selective about your notifications. Under the Settings menu, navigate to Notifications. Adjust the settings until you are satisfied with which apps trigger notifications and which ones don’t. This keeps you from being nagged by rarely used apps. It also keeps important notifications from being buried by less important ones.

The iPad’s “.com” button can multitask. Most people know about the handy “.com” button that makes typing web addresses easier, but it can do much more than that. If the website you are heading to ends in “.net” or “.edu“, simply hold down the “.com” button and you will see several new options pop up.

Double Click The Home Button

To see every app that is current running, double click the home button. This will allow you to see all of the running apps that you have. This lets you keep an eye on what’s running on your iPad and close unneeded apps to free up RAM.

The best case truly insures your iPad against damage. You should invest more than a few dollars in a strong, protective hard or soft case. A folio is another excellent choice as it protects both the screen and the iPad itself. $50-80 is a good estimate of the cost of a truly protective case, so don’t cheap out!

Are you having trouble with small print on certain websites? Then you need to zoom in. To do this, use two fingers to pinch outward. You will also be able to tap links and select words better. When you are ready to zoom out, use two fingers to pitch inward.

While you may be tempted to hack your device to add extra applications to it, you should really think twice. The official store has thousands of legit applications, and once you unlock your device you may lose support from the official Apple store. Think carefully about doing something like this!

Protective Cover

Is your screen becoming marred? While your iPad can handle some damage, if small scratches are appearing, you might want to place a protective cover on it. This not only saved the iPad from damage, but it also keeps you from developing small micro-scratches on your fingers.

The iPad is a great tool for reading. Whether it’s fantasy literature or a college textbook, reading at night can become a bit straining on the eyes. Dimming your iBooks is easily accomplished by changing the brightness setting within the app. This makes nighttime reading far more enjoyable and comfortable.

  2. This did not mention reader view in web browser. Look at the far left of the address line, if there are 4 parallel lines, click on this and you get a reader friendly page, you can pinch and zoom in.
